There was also only one outbreak of the winter vomiting bug norovirus between January 1 and March 31 this year, again the lowest number ever experienced by the hospital.
Mr Harding said: “These achievements are at the coal face. They do not happen in my office.” Hailing the trust’s MRSA performance as an ‘exceptional achievement’, Mr Harding added: “We reported fewer C difficile cases than any other trust in the West Midlands. Whether that relates to bed days remains to be seen.”
