Oyster industry learning international lessons to stop virus spread

The industry has confirmed for the first time that the Ostreid Herpes virus 1 microvariant was found eight months ago in wild pacific oysters in Sydney Harbour, and also in farmed oysters in the Georges River at Botany Bay, NSW.
The virus, which only affects pacific oysters, is also known within the Australian industry as Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome.
