Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping, sometimes accompanied by a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and fatigue. Although the symptoms are intense, Amato said the virus typically is not serious, and those who are sick usually feel better in a day or two.
