Imported frozen raspberries could be the cause of the regular outbreaks in this country of the winter vomiting virus, or Norovirus, according to the Swedish National Food Agency.
The agency says there is no tradition of boiling the frozen berries in Sweden, unlike in many other countries, and that the berries could have been responsible for at least 28 outbreaks of the stomach bug over the last decade.They recommend all frozen berries be boiled for a few minutes before use.
