Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping, sometimes accompanied by a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and fatigue. Although the symptoms are intense, Amato said the virus is typically not serious and those who are sick typically feel better in a day or two.
