Rotaviruses are non enveloped, double strand RNA viruses. These viruses are responsible for the majority of gastroentiritis in children. In adults, infections due to rotavirus are underestimated and sometimes asymtomatic. The large majority of gastroenteritis are due to group A rotavirus.
